Birchbox Review: January

So, this is the second Birchbox I have had and the first for 2016. I have to say As soon as I opened the parcel I was immediately impressed by the packaging. The box has photos on it and also shows a collaboration with Pinterest- which I loved straight away. Inside the box is a cute bag which I personally feel that I could use in the future for beauty products.

It was upon opening the bag that the excitement really kicked in. Within this month’s box I received:

Benefit Mascara Primer ‘They’re Real!’

Rituals Rice Scrub- Organic Rice Milk and Cherry Blossom

Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner- Black

Beauty Protector- Protect and Detangle Leave in Conditioner

Absolution L’Eur Soir de Matin (Purifying and Cleansing Water)

A Compact Mirror

I can honestly say I was pretty chuffed with this selection.

Benefit Mascara Primer ‘They’re Real!’

To be honest I have never seen one of these before- I didn’t even know that mascara primer existed. This was a new one for me. I applied it this morning, and the colour of it is a really lovely natural brown. It glides really smoothly onto my lashes and doesn’t leave any clumps. I’m not sure if it has changed how my mascara goes on but I could see this being worn in replacement of a mascara on a day where you don’t want to be too done up. I definitely give this product a thumbs up.

Rituals Rice Scrub- Organic Rice Milk and Cherry Blossom

This product has a lovely subtle fragrance to it and contains a good ratio of exfoliant particles. I have been using this for a few days and I can definitely say my skin is staying nice and smooth!

Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner- Black

I was super excited to receive this, as I am always up for trying new eyeliners- my winging technique is pretty shocking so I am always on the lookout for an easy application. This fits the bill. It is essentially like a felt tip pen. With a firm sponge tip which is pointed at the end. My first impressions were very good. When I applied this, it drew on easily and I actually managed to draw a pretty decent wing. Not bad, eh?

Beauty Protector- Protect and Detangle Leave in Conditioner

Leave in Conditioners are a must in my beauty regime, so to receive one made me very happy. I usually use the herbal essences one, but I had been wanting to try something different. I washed my hair last night and sprayed this one whilst my hair was still wet. It smells divine! It’s a sweet and fresh smell which is just perfect for this time of year. I also found that the smell lasted through the next day too, so that’s a win win!

From what I can gather, this is similar to a facial toner. It’s a cleansing water which balances your skin’s pH to keep your skin glowing and healthy. I have only tried this product once so ic an’t confirm the long term effects but it does leave my skin feeling incredibly clean so for that I am thankful!
