On the Monday of our holiday the day began with rain, rain, and more rain. By 10am when we decided to set off to Coniston, it was peeing it down persistently and we weren’t really looking forward to the arduous climb up a mountain.
Luckily for us we seemed to have timed the weather perfectly, and by the time we parked up at Coniston Tourist Information Centre, and you can see the left hand white dot on this map is the Old Man. It is a bit of a way round from here, which we didn’t realise until we began the walk, but it is worth it for the exercise and scenery!
Below I’m going to share some of the best photos I took from the walk up!
I have really bad Asthma, so after the first 10 minutes or so of a steep incline, I was dying. I had to take a few minutes to get my breath back. It also didn’t help that I had a rucksack on my back, a coat wrapped around my waist and a black T- Shirt on!
After about an hour and a half of walking, we made it as high as we could, and decided to have a sit down, take in the views and have a bite to eat.
We made it… and what a view!
I hope you enjoyed this travel post! Me and Sam loved climbing up here, however next time we will definitely travel lighter because it got SO hot whilst climbing up the hill!
