I’m just going to come right out and say it… I’ve never used a cleansing oil *gasp*
As most of you will know by now, Simple is my favourite skincare brand. You can see how deep the obsession goes by looking at My Skincare Routine.
So, of course when I walked into Superdrug on pay day in search of a new way to cleanse my skin, simple was the first place I stopped. I have heard a lot of people talk about cleansing oils recently, so I thought I might as well pick it up and see what all the hype is about. So I picked up my little bottle of Simple Cleansing Oil and headed back into work for the afternoon. I must admit I was excited to give this oil a try.
I love the way simple packages it’s products, because it’s fresh, clean and no fuss. Which is exactly what I am looking for with skincare. I also love see-through bottles, and the size of this is great for the money. It only cost me £3.45 for 150ml.
I tried this after a long day at the office, my skin was begging for some fresh air. The instructions told me to take a small amount in my hands and massage onto my makeup-clad face for a few minutes, before rinsing it off to reveal clean skin. I applied this as I was waiting for the shower to heat up, and then jumped in and washed it off. Because I wanted to test the power of this product alone, I didn’t use any other cleansers whilst I was in the shower.
When I got out and looked in the mirror, I was very impressed! I had been wearing waterproof mascara and liquid eyeliner that day, and there was no trace left on my face after using the oil. I have to say, this is probably the best cleanser I have ever used, and I’ve used A LOT.
I have been a little skeptical about how well an oil is supposed to get rid of dirt, but it actually makes total sense. When you rub the oil in, any dirt, dead skin or makeup on your face get’s trapped within the oil, which is why when you rinse it off, it’s all gone.
Another big reason I love this cleanser is that it is very gentle. With a lot of face washes and cleansers I think it can feel as if your skin is being stripped of it’s oils, but this is the opposite. It lifts the dirt without draining your face, and it’s great for sensitive skin.
I couldn’t give this any less than 3/3, because I absolutely love this product and I will definitely be repurchasing!
Let me know if you’ve ever tried this product, what did you think?
