My New Year’s Resolution

my-new-years-resolution

Now that a new year has arrived, most people are wiping a clean slate and starting fresh for 2017. New Year’s resolutions can come in many forms, with most people opting for losing weight, getting fit and eating better.

I, however, am not jumping on that bandwagon this year, because I have done this too many times in the past and it just never works out. I’m not going to deprive myself of pizza, cut out chocolate and spend every waking hour in the gym. Why? because I hate the gym, and I love pizza and chocolate. Just because it’s a new year doesn’t mean you have to cut out everything you love, maybe just try and moderate how much you are having.

Anyway, what I wanted to share with you today is my ONE resolution for this year. I have already explained in a post on LinkedIn that I prefer the term ‘Goals’ to resolutions, because I think that small goals are a lot easier to stick to. The one thing I want to achieve this year is to grow my skills. That’s as simple as it is. Every month I want to learn something new, whether that be learning to drive*, completing a skills course online or even just taking the time to learn more about myself as a person. For me this year is about gaining knowledge, skills and know-how to get shit done and be the person I was born to be.

*I just want to point out that I don’t expect to learn how to drive in a month, but this is just one of the things I want to achieve this year!

getshitdone

That sounds SO cheesy, I know, but it’s true. I was born to be a creative soul, to take control and make a good impact on the world, and that’s exactly what I intend to do.

So whatever your New Year’s Resolution is this year, just remember to stay true to you. It’ll be worth it in the end!
