6 Months To Get Fit

Happy Monday!

I’m not the fittest person in the world, in fact, I would describe myself as pretty sedentary. I eat fairly healthy, always try to get my veggies in and drink lots of water, but I hate exercise. With a passion. I’m incredibly lazy. I’m more of a thinker than a doer, and every time I have tried to begin exercising, I just give up because it’s too hard and pizza calls to me.

You might be thinking, how am I not the size of beached whale? Well, to be honest with you I’m not entirely sure. I think I must just have a pretty nifty metabolism in my body, thank goodness.

Anyway, why have I decided to get fit now? Well, I hate my body, and I hate that I’m SO unfit that I can’t even run more than 100m without my asthmatic chest giving out on me. I’m a 22 year old woman, I should be hop, skip and jumping around the globe, with everyone else trying their best to keep up with me.

I also want to be proud of my body, and not have to feel like I’m holding my stomach in all of the time when I wear a figure hugging top or dress. I want freedom, confidence and fitness. So, in that spirit, I have exactly 6 months to get into shape.

Why 6 months? Because my work sent out an email last week to organise a team building exercise, and the exercise they chose was Tough Mudder. Not the full one though, the half mudder, which is a 5 mile course with 13 obstacles, so it’s still going to be very challenging for someone who has never run more than 400m in her life. Of course, once everyone else in my office, and in the other offices signed up for it, I kind of had to join in, because who would want to be the only one left out?

So, my unfit arse is going to have to train HARD. And I want to share the journey with you guys on here, because I know there will be a lot of you out there who are the same as me, and trust me, if I manage this, you can too. I promise.

So, as this is Day One of my fitness journey, I want to share my stats and what I plan on eating throughout this week, as well as my plans for exercise. if you want to come along with me, please feel free! Tag me on twitter and instagram with the hashtag #gingerfoxfit

Before I start, just want to say I know I’m not fat, but this isn’t about weight loss for me, this is about physical fitness. I want to show that you don’t need to lose weight to be fit, in fact, I will most likely put on weight as I put on muscle.

My Stats:

Height: 157cm OR 5ft 1in

Weight: 50kg OR 7st 8lb

BMI: 20 (A healthy weight)

Measurements: 34-26-34

Meal Plan and Shopping List for Week One

And Don’t Forget to stay hydrated…

Exercises I plan on doing this week are:

  • 1 Hour Yoga (either 2 x 30 minutes or a full 1 hour session)
  • 20 Minutes weights
  • 15 Press Ups a day
  • 15 Lunges a day
  • 40 Squats a day

Remember, It’s only week one, and I don’t want to go all in quite yet, I need to get my body used to moving a little first! Baby Steps…

Next week I will share one of my recipes from Week One, as well as sharing with you what exercises I have done so far! I look forward to seeing you all again this time next week!

  1. It’s so nice that more and more people are paying attention to their health. Getting fit is all about the food that you eat and less about the exercise and I think it’s great that you’re following a meal plan! It’s going to make life so much easier for you especially when you’re used to it.

  2. Good luck! I just went to the gym tonight for the first time in months, I’m also developing a progress post. I have a different goal lol (Lifting weights to gain muscles). I’m trying to get serious about it this time. Get your cardio done and I think you should be okay for the mudder!

  3. Yicks, I fell off the band wagon in January but started over in February. I have 30 pounds to lose. Going to stay motivated!

  4. Oh my gosh .. Sending you lots of luck! I’ve done a few of those obstacle courses and they’re really fun.

  5. very informative posting, as healthy freak myself, I treat my body like working machine, and you put in properly nutritious to work perfectly
