The Anxious Blogger- Learning to Love Yourself

Originally Via The Anxious Blogger

Hi guys,

I’m sorry it’s a been a while since my last post, but life has been hectic over the past few weeks. But I’m back now, and today I want to talk to you about something which was a big personal hurdle for me to overcome.

Learning to love yourself.

Your Appearance

Look in the mirror and name 1 thing you like about yourself. It might be that your skin is smooth today, your hair is soft and silky, or simply that your eyes are bright. Taking the time to point out the good in yourself is so important, because all we ever do is see the bad in ourselves. Myself included. My waist is never quite small enough, or my knees might look a bit knobbly, or even my hair just won’t sit right on my head. Any small thing is easy to pick at, but do we ever take the time to pick out the little thing we like?

Take me today for example. I woke up this morning and looked in the mirror, and noticed how smooth my skin looked and how pronounced my freckles were, and I didn’t put foundation on. I just put concealer under my eyes and did some eye shadow, but I left the rest of my face natural, because I like the way it looks today. It’s a small thing, but it made me feel confident from the get go. And I now feel much better for it because I know that I made the decision. It was totally up to me.

Your Personality

Do you ever wonder what people see in you? Why do you have a loving family, close friends and a significant other? It’s because you’re worth it. Honestly, this is one of the things I think affects us the most, and we often wonder how we came to deserve the love and affection of the people around us.

So I just want to say this:

If you value the people around you and think they are the best people in the world, then surely you trust their judgment. Why would they spend their time with you if you weren’t more than deserving of their effort.

So whenever you are feeling unworthy of your loved ones attention, just remember that they value you just as much as you them. You are worth their time, and you should be proud of the friends and family you have around you.

A little task for you…

Each day I want you to write down something positive. It can be about your appearance, something you achieved or even just about the day itself. Keep it in a diary with you and at the end of each week read through it. Find a quiet space and just take 5 minutes to see what you’ve achieved, what you’ve loved about yourself throughout the week. Keep your head up high and take the time to be proud of who you are. You are unique, beautiful and capable of so much in life. Just believe in yourself a little more.

Good Thought for the Day

As always, I want to finish up with a positive quote that you should live by this week.

  1. How sweet of you to write this because loving yourself is honestly the hardest thing that a person can do. I’m trying to figure out how to love myself without being disgustingly skinny. Hang in there xx

    1. It’s a hard thing to do, and I know what you mean, I had an eating disorder as a teenager and no matter what I did to myself I didn’t feel thin enough. Just go day by day and stay positive! xx
