Quick and Easy Homemade Bread

Hey guys!

It feels like it’s been about a year since I last made a blog post so I’m very sorry for that! I’ve just been really busy and struggling writer’s block over the last few weeks, but I’m back and ready to share full time again now!

I hope you all had an amazing January and your Valentine’s Day was filled with love, wherever it came from. And today I’m actually sharing a recipe I made for Valentine’s Day as part of mine and Sam’s romantic evening in. With it being a Wednesday we stayed at home, Sam cooked me my first ever steak and I made some bread! It’s the first loaf I’ve ever made on my own and it was EPIC!

So here goes…

Ingredients:

  • 1 sachet yeast (7g)
  • 1.5 tsp sugar
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 500g strong white flour ( or any bread flour)
  • 300ml warm water

Start off by mixing the dry ingredients in a bowl including the yeast. Add the water to the bowl and mix together with a fork or a knife to avoid sticky hands.

Knead for 10 minutes on a floured surface and add extra flour if the mix is sticking to your hands. After this, place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean tea towel and prove in a warm place ( but the radiator) until doubled in size ( approx 90 minutes)

Take the dough out and knead five times to beat out the air. Place on a floured baking sheet and cover with a tea towel again. Leave for an hour and then bake. Bake at 180C for 35 minutes. After this you should be able to tap the bottom of the load and hear a hollow sound. Leave to cool and enjoy!
