12 Days of Blogmas- Day Nine

‘On the ninth day of Christmas,

My true love gave to me,

Nine ladies dancing…’

I don’t know about you, but I’m still holding onto Christmas with one hand, while planning my epic 2017 with the other. I’m just not quite ready to let go of the festive, fun and sparkly quite yet.

With that in mind, today I wanted to bring back a little taste of the Christmas spirit, with a craft post which you and your kids (if you have them) will love to do together.

Introducing…

NINE LADIES DANCING!

I saw this on Pinterest ages ago, and I just couldn’t resist adding into my #12daysofblogmas. It’s so easy to do and these ballerinas would be the perfect addition to your tree or hung on some string as a garland!

Let’s get going…

What you’ll need:

  • Square or A4 Paper (any colour you like)
  • A pair of Scissors
  • A pen
  1. If you are starting with a piece of A4 paper, you need to make it into a square. To do this you want to fold your paper over from the corner, to form a triangle. You’ll end up with a large rectangle of paper left underneath. This is the bit you need to cut off to create your square.img_2058
  2. Now you need to fold your paper into a triangle again, then once more until you have a smaller triangle like this:img_2059
  3. Now it’s time to draw some lines. You basically want to create a paper snowflake for this, and then we will be inserting the body later on. Make sure that you find the corner which will be the outer corners of your snowflake, and draw a curved line. This will make the snowflake rounded. Then make random cuts all the way around the triangle, avoiding the inner most corner. img_2061img_2062
  4. As you can see, I have made cuts everywhere apart from the middle corner. Open out your design until the snowflake is in half, and draw a small semi circle on the inner part. Cut it out. This will be where we put the lady later on.img_2063img_2064
  5. Now it’s time to make our lady! Take another piece of A4 paper and fold it into 4, long ways. Open this out and cut in half. You should be left with a piece which has one fold down the middle. Fold in half.img_2065
  6. Draw your lady as shown above. Make sure that the waist is pretty thin because this will be where the snowflake sits. Cut her out! Now take your snowflake, and push the lady’s head through the hole until your snowflake sits over her skirt. Open out the lady and you’re done!img_2066

There are lots of ways you can use this dancer, so get creative. You could even decorate her with glitter if you wanted!

I hope you enjoyed today’s post, and I hope that you have fun making these dancers!
